Sailing yachts and boating in and around Whitby, North Yorkshire.

Sailing yachts and boating are obviously extremely popular in Whitby and the surrounding area. Whitby has an excellent marina offering moorings to both locals and visitors, and the port is accessible for shallow draft in all states of the tide - and deeper ones at higher tide.

Only in really seriously heavy weather does it become inaccessible - but the harbour and marina are highly protected from the stormy seas at most times by the extensive piers and pier extensions. Heavy conditions from the North can however make the entrance untenable.
