Lovely seaside town with a huge amount of history, culture and architecture. Please visit the James Cook statue and read up on the history of this amazing explorer and his influence.
The hotel Resolution was fabulous with a great breakfast and highly recommended.
Visit the Whitby Brewery at the top of the 199 steps and next the Abbey. Great selection of drinks and some excellent gift boxes.

Whitby is our favourite place and we visit at least 5 times a year. This was our first time at New Year and we would definitely go again. Sherlock lodgings was clean, perfect location, friendly staff, gorgeous breakfast, cannot fault anything at all.
We had not booked for an evening meal on NYE but we managed to get a table at the Thai in the Train Station, it was delicious.
Parking was easy and nowhere was too busy.

We love visiting Whitby with our two dogs.
We love visiting Whitby with our two dogs. Plenty of walks, would recommend walking to Robin Hoods Bay - we then catch the bus back. Lots of dog friendly pubs, shops etc, and lots of choice for food whether you are looking for restaurants or takeaways.

Charming.
Charming. Busy but everyone happy to be there and ok if needing to queue for something.
Fantastic fish and chips, wonderful cake shops, and takeaways all seem to deliver.
Abbey is impressive and should be visited. The Dracula story is covered well with exhibits.
Whitby Town FC if you want to watch live sport. Stand is good but can be chilly!
Whitby is somewhere you enjoy on the first visit and hope to return to sometime.
One of my favourite places - wished that I lived nearer!

It was a short stay, but really nice break.
It was a short stay, but really nice break. Excellent fish and chips! Wanted to see the abbey - but the admission costs for the family were too expensive so enjoyed a walk around and visited the gift shop.
Visited the Whitby brewery which I would highly recommend!!
We had a 2 night stay at The Buck last month. That stunning harbour view is exceptional! I watched the boats go in and out early morning as the sun rose. The noise from the pub below did not bother us in the slightest, the bar staff are lovely and the pub has a great atmosphere! The room was small but clean & the bed was comfy. There is a private car park at the back of the building which is a rarity in Whitby! I will definitely book the Buck again, thanks for a great weekend!
Thé hôtel is beautiful and with fabulous local walks within the Raithwaite estate. The staff couldn’t be more helpful, professional, kind, and willing to help whenever needed. The is set within beautiful gardens, and is within easy walking distance of Sandsend, and about a 40 min lovely walk to Whitby. We loved the spa and pool, and our room with a balcony was superb. The food and drinks are on the expensive side, but the quality and standard reflects the price.
Excellent location in a back street of Whitby just 20 seconds to the harbour front. Despite being so close to the harbour front, it was very quiet at the property for the most part. I was pleased with the value for money considering my stay was during a bank holiday weekend with excellent weather. Though a small property, there was enough space for 4 adults. Free parking permits were provided.
Excellent value for money, the room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Nice little touches of toiletries and tea /coffee make all the difference. The food was outstanding and the staff were exceptional, they even ordered newspapers to be delivered. Lovely lounge and bar if you didn't want to venture far. I would definitely recommend this hotel and will stay again when we visit Whitby.
Spectacular view of Whitby - the steps, the ruined abbey, the town, the harbour, the beach, the sea… wow!
I was lucky enough to find a brilliant pizzeria a few hundred yards away for my evening meal - Pizza West https://www.pizzawest.co.uk/ - which had friendly, welcoming staff, stylish decor and great food.
Breakfast at the hotel was good.
Room was comfortable and tv worked
The location is brilliant, only a ten minute walk into Robin Hood's Bay. The hotel is on a good bus route with buses every 30 minutes into Whitby and Scarborough. The breakfast is very good with locally sought produce. Good choice on the menu. The bar food is very good also, serving meals till 9.00pm. The staff are lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them.
The breakfast was excellent, especially the wonderful black pudding. The hotel was situated in a quiet area with parking, a must for Whitby. It was an easy short walk into the centre. Paula was so welcoming with tea and delicious home made fruit cake on our arrival. As dog lovers, we loved Denzil, the very well behaved Labradoodle.
Fantastic entertainment, great location with lovely views. We luckily parked directly outside & for free (out of season) the downstairs of this hotel is lovely and feels royal but its so dated and rundown. All the same it has charm. Great location at the top of the cliff looking down into the bay, will definitely visit Whitby again
The apartment is fresh modern and exceptionally clean. All the facilities you could want. Comfy bed TV in main room and bedroom. We had a fabulous stay and will be recommending it to friends. Great location short stroll into Whitby. Parking nearby is free in winter when we visited.
This hotel is exceptional, lovely friendly staff, super room, very comfortable, supplied with Elemis toiletries and lovely thick towelling robes. Excellent food served in the orangery with fabulous view over the bay. Great surrounding area, close to Whitby and Scarborough.
The room was well set out and very comfortable, the hotel was very quiet and it suited our needs perfectly. The location was ideal to explore the whole of Whitby on foot. Breakfast was delicious and i was very happy that Gluten Free bread was provided on request.
Rooms are modern with good en-suite facilities. Bar and restaurant service was excellent. Great breakfast options.
Parking is free but you have to find a space in one of the local streets. Great hotel perfectly located for a short stay in whitby.
Breakfast was perfect, room was clean, spacious and had exceptional views, location fantastic, hosts welcoming and friendly. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Whitby. Perfect weekend break.
Spacious room, firm, very comfortable bed. Just far enough out of the center of Whitby to be quiet at night but close enough to walk everywhere. Lovely town to visit - would visit again.
The room was spacious and comfortable and the breakfast well cooked and plentyful.
The hotel is in a difficult location for weekend parking but a good location to visit the town,
Room was a good size, comfortable bed, very clean and the food was the best I have had in a very long time! The hotel is only about 1 mile from the centre of Whitby.
