Kiln Cottage Whitby

Kiln Cottage Whitby is a beautiful, well appointed and tastefully furnished haven nestled in the heart of ancient Whitby town, and it is the perfect destination for a romantic getaway, a family holiday, or a treat and thrill of a last minute short break!

Kiln Yard is situated right at the foot of the famous 199 Steps leading up to St. Mary’s Church and the magnificent jewel that is Whitby Abbey, a site that has been inspiring visitors, artists and writers for over 1500 years and probably most famously as featured in Bram Stoker’s Gothic Horror novel Dracula with the black dog escaping up the steps from the shipwrecked Demeter on Tate Hill Sands.

Ideally located for exploring Whitby’s historic east side, Kiln Cottage is situated in Kiln Yard, one of Whitby’s famous yards off Church Street and close to the Market Place and it’s thriving restaurants, pubs, cafes and shopping experience, as well as Tate Hill Sands and Fortune’s Famous Kipper Shop on Henrietta Street.

Open the gate and walk through the arch into a very quiet, private and secluded oasis that is Kiln Yard, and away from the hustle and bustle of old Whitby’s ancient cobbled Church Street to the stunning Kiln Cottage.

Kiln Cottage Whitby is a delightful Grade II listed building and was originally separate two cottages dating back to 17th century, but today this truly is old meets new with modern contemporary self catering accommodation throughout.

Other considerations: Kiln Cottage Whitby was originally two fisherman’s cottages dating from the 17th Century. Quirks of such a property may be the occasional spider web, low ceiling points, etc. That said, Kiln Cottage Whitby is exquisitely furnished with all you’ll need for a memorable stay surrounded by great history in a fabulous location.

Accessibility: If you’ve never been to Whitby before, you should be aware of its hills (it is built up on both sides of the banks of the River Esk), however there are some very good stopping off points for a rest, cake and coffee, taking photos…and pubs! There are a number of cobbled streets too, particularly in the old part of town where Kiln Cottage is situated.
