Abbotstone House

Elelgant Whitby Bed and Breakfast with spectacular views, a stone's throw from the beach and shops. Excellent accommodation with full English breakfast.
Private car parking.

Welcome to Abbotstone Guest House with bed and breakfast service! This friendly guest house is nicely situated in a pretty terrace of Victorian houses, right in the heart of Whitby. Previously a Sea Captain's Cottage dating back to the 1840s, it retains much of its traditional charm and character along with a warm, friendly and comfortable atmosphere for our guests. The property enjoys stunning views across the historic harbour to the medieval St. Hilda's Abbey, high on the East Cliff. Situated on the West Cliff and only a stone's throw away from the picturesque town with its shops, 'blue flag' sandy beaches and easy access to the North Yorkshire National Park and Heartbeat Country, we are the ideal base for a holiday.

Whitby dates back to the 600s AD and is famous for its Jet with many shops selling jewellery shaped with this semi-precious stone. The town is rich in the history of Bram Stoker's Dracula and for its ties with Captain Cook who set out from Whitby on his voyages of discovery. It has always had strong links with the sea, with it's harbour evolving from the early days of alum mining, as a whaling port, through to the current busy fishing and maritime leisure port.
