Whitby Whalebones

Close-up photographs of the Whitby whale jaw bone, used as an archway over a path in Whitby.
Everyone who's visited Whitby must have touched the infamous whalebones at some stage. A very unique feel they have too, though not dissimilar to the feel of any old bone really, except for their obvious unusual dimensions. A definite warmth can be felt from them. The current bones as photographed are actually replacements of the old originals.
