Railway carriages at White Point

Post by taphonomy » Wed Mar 20, 2013 11:18 am

I heard that when they filled in the railway cutting at White Point after the closure of the line, some railway carriages were also interred and are still there.

Anyone know if this is true?

If you look at the old route none of it has been filled in to such an extent it'd hide a carriage at all even if it was crushed flat

This a common myth repeated about every sort of hole all over the country - I've heard it related to several places on the moors where :- "A tank went and sank here and they never got it out" sort of thing.

Good story but not true.
