Hartley Trophy

Post by FishingBoatHeritage » Mon Mar 19, 2012 9:17 pm

Hello
Can anyone help me to find out about a trophy, the Hartley Trophy, which was awarded each year in the 1950s and 1960s to the boat landing the biggest single days catch of herring during the season.
I would like to add the info about the winning boats to my website http://www.fishingboatheritage.com
I understand that it may have been won on up to five years by an Avoch fisherman called Donald Patience whose boat was named the Maureen after his wife who came from Whitby. I have also heard mention of the Excelsior FR, the Fertile FR, the May Lily BF and the Amaranth LH.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
