Whitby Archive Heritage Center

Post by hookman » Thu Feb 16, 2012 3:59 pm

Can anyone tell me what has happened to this Archive? I was going to send in a research request but the web site is shut down, E-mails don't get answered and the phone is disconnected. I am trying to learn more abut the Brig Iona built in Whitby ca. 1829 and lost in 1836. Can anyone offer me a suggestion as to how this research can be done? Thank you, Jerry Hooker, Walled Lake, MI USA

They ran out of funding about five years ago and are now in storage.

You could try a letter or email to the local newspaper, the Whitby Gazette, asking if they can put you in touch with someone who may be able to help.

Good luck.

bbc.co.uk local radio might put you on to something.

It's a long shot....but worth a shot.

Contact details will be here: BBC Radio York

You could try the Library at the Whitby Museum. This snippet is from their website:- "Please contact us by email (library[at]whitbymuseum.org.uk), phone (01947 602908) or by post at Library and Archive, Whitby Museum, Pannett Park, Whitby, YO21 1RE"
