Commuting from Whitby?

Hi,

We really like Whitby and are looking into how feasible it would be to live there.

The main tricky part would be work - working in IT I'd expect we could find jobs in York (my hometown) or certainly Leeds, as I'm guessing there aren't many large companies based in Whitby or Scarborough.

But looking into commuting, it seems the earliest train from Whitby is way too late! There is an early train from Scarborough though. Buses are also too late.

So what I'd like to know is, current residents of Whitby, how do you commute? Do you drive to Scarborough and get the train from there - if so, what is parking and cost like? Or do you just make the long drive everyday?
