Air Sea Rescue Power Boats - Early 1950's

Post by John Darwent » Sat Sep 26, 2015 11:05 am

Operating from the harbour steps down the side of Scotch Head were, I seem to remember, three power launches giving half-hour trips to sea. These were named, Seacrest, Florencia and Amy. I think Seacrest was run by one of the Boocock family, and Amy by a thick set guy with a mop of curly hair. On one occasion when as a small boy, I was looking on over the railings, there was an altercation between the Seacrest and Amy owners, the Amy owner having been accused of loading out of turn! The boats were fast and fun but I gather very thirsty for fuel and they all disappeared before too long.
